Meeting Highlights:

Bala Ramkumar, Student Representative, shared that the second semester has just started and students are in their new classes. He added that Flex bingo has ended and that the swim team is over while most other sports have just passed their mid-season mark. The cast of the play has been set and they have started rehearsals.
Dana Labb, Assistant Superintendent, shared the results of the 2024 Belonging Survey which focused on two of the district’s core values: engaging in learning with courage and valuing individuals and relationships. He said the questions were developed and created by the DEIB Committee and he discussed the ways the surveys were administered at the different schools. He outlined highlights and opportunities for growth at HES, TBMS, and TBHS and provided an in-depth analysis of some of the data from the survey.

Other noteworthy agenda items:

Dr. Linda Dwight shared her update verbally and discussed the work she has been doing with district leadership on the FY26 budget, how the district is reacting to concerns about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, and changes to the building rental process.
Dana Labb shared his Assistant Superintendent update.
Dr. Dwight did a mid year check-in on her 24-25 goals and the District Improvement Plan.
Committee members approved policies: IJND (Access to Digital Resources), IJOC (School Volunteers), and BEDH (Public Comment at Committee Meetings).

Future meeting dates and agenda items:

The next School Committee meetings are scheduled for February 2nd and 24th. Agenda items will include: a budget update, policy, and a mid-year check-in on School Committee goals.
